BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Police arrested a dozen Occupy Bellingham protesters blocking railroad tracks near downtown yesterday.
Occupy protesters had gathered on Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks near Roeder Avenue and C Street, some chaining themselves together with bicycle locks.
After warning the protesters to disperse, police moved in, and arrested those who remained on the tracks.
Officers used a hand-held saw on the locks until the protesters gave them the key.
The demonstration was in connection with similar efforts at major ports in Seattle, Longview, Portland and Vancouver B.C.
