Really Bill? By Tracy Ellis |
I heard something so ridiculous the other day on one of our talk shows that I felt like I just had to comment. Bill O'Reilly is a talented and entertaining talk show host, but what he said on Monday really ticked me off. He was talking about the harsh comments the two democratic presidential candidates have been tossing at each other. He said the Democratic Party is divided and the two sides were in the midst of an "un-civil" war. Then he said - you won't see any coverage of this in the mainstream media. What? Had he been getting into Rush Limbaugh's stash? I'm not joking when I say at the same time O'Reilly was making this ludicrous statement, I looked up at the T.V. and, sure enough, that is exactly what CNN's Wolf Blitzer was discussing. I'm used to the "liberal media" rhetoric, but not out and out untruths. At times, lately, it seems the only thing I hear, see, and read in the news is related to the race for the Democratic nomination. Almost two full days of coverage was dedicated to Hillary Clinton's Bosnia lie. O'Reilly contends the rift in the Republican Party received much more coverage. If that's true, it's only because that was the only thing radio talk show hosts could talk about for a while. How does O'Reilly get away with making a comment like this? Maybe somebody should look into that question, but I'm sure it won't be a topic you see in the mainstream media, especially not on shows like The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News. |
